Caregivers Support Group Offered to the Public
RCH in conjunction with Care Alternatives, Hospice invites caregivers from surrounding communities to attend the monthly Caregivers Support Group which is held here on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 2 to 3:15 PM. The sessions are offered free of charge and provide a safe environment for caregivers to get the emotional support they need and obtain useful information from professionals.  Facilitators are Rev. Barbara Jensen and Lora Speiser, SW, Care Alternatives.  All unpaid area caregivers are welcome.  Registration is required at 732-607-9230.

CMS Awards RCH 5-Stars in 2009 Nursing Home Rating 
RCH proudly announces another 5-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The 5-star overall quality rating is the highest rating that can be awarded to a nursing home.  It is based on the ratings given to a facility for Health Inspections, Quality Measures, and Staffing.  Since only 10% of nursing homes are awarded 5-Stars, this rating
differentiates Reformed Church Home from most of its peers.  For additional information,  please access www.medicare.gov.

RCH Declared Finalist in NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes Program
NJBIZ magazine declared RCH a Finalist, Nursing Home/Assisted Living Facility of the Year, in their 2009 Healthcare Heroes Program.  This program recognizes individuals, organizations, and facilities that demonstrate heroic actions in the healthcare industry. A portion of the nomination narrative, written by LInda Root, daughter and niece of 2 former residents, follows:

RCH Awarded Highest 5 of 5 Star Quality Rating 
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) just released quality ratings for each of the nation’s 15,800 nursing homes that participate in Medicare or Medicaid. Consulting with a panel of experts from academia, patient advocacy and nursing home provider groups, CMS developed the rating system based on each nursing home’s performance in three critical areas: health inspection surveys, quality measures, and staffing. Reformed Church Home was awarded a Five-Star Quality Rating, the highest possible overall performance rating.  For more information, please access www.medicare.gov.

Reformed Church Home Deficiency-Free 
Kate Shepard, Executive Director/Administrator of 
Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge, is proud to announce
another year of deficiency-free State ratings for its Assisted
Living and Skilled Nursing facility.  While only approximately
5 % of NJ licensed nursing homes are rated deficiency-free,
Reformed Church Home has achieved this distinction for 4
consecutive years.“Our mission is to provide compassionate,
high quality care to all of our residents at a reasonable cost,”
stated Shepard.  “Our highly qualified nursing and wellness
staffs are focused on enhancing the health, independence,
